Wellington - The Big Tiki

Saturday 11th February - Monday 13th February 2017

The drive from Taupō to Wellington wasn't the best 7 hours of my life... we were all feeling pretty delicate! On the way we stopped off to look at Mt. Ruapehu and Mt. Ngauruhoe (aka Mt. Doom).

Hayley and Ricky gave us a short coach tor of Wellington before taking us up Mt. Victoria to see some pretty amazing views of the Capital.

I then checked in to the hotel before heading out to grab food at the food market near to our hotel. I got sweet and sour chicken noodles for $7 and they were the most delicious noodles I'd had in a while! As I'm tying to save a bit of money, I stayed in and chilled with Alec and Katie for a bit, watching the Hobbit, before giving a few people a call back home to catch up!

The following morning we had a well deserved lie in before breakfast... Emma didn't make it but, as I am super kind and a great friend, I brought her up a muffin! We then went to Te Papa, Wellington's museum, and they had an exhibition on the war in Gallipoli. It was really surreal to hear about the war from an Australasian perspective and learning about their impact on WW1.

Following this, we grabbed lunch then I went back to the hotel and had a nap! All this travelling around and not sleeping properly at night is making me exhausted! We then went and had a look around the shops, but I had an unfortunate incident happen to me. Something flew into my eye and it ruined the rest of the day for me as I could only see out of one eye! I was tired and grumpy!

I grabbed the same noodles I had yesterday for dins as they were delicious and cheap so win win. We then went back to the hotel to get ready and then hit the 5 Stags bar for a few drinks and pool... well I say a few drinks, Emma and I stuck to water to save a bit of money! The South Island is going to work out to be expensive so I'm saving wherever I can!
